In life as you mature, change, grow, and evolve you become unrecognizable to some of the people around you.

They no longer see in you who you used to be and they become somewhat uncomfortable—even seem to dislike the new and improved you.

It’s natural for the people who know you to be leery and skeptical of your growth, and to find the “new you” hard to accept. Hard to believe.  And rightly so, because what once was, no longer is.

We’re all creatures of habit—we want things to stay the same. But change is inevitable and there’s always a price to pay during our transformation. Values change, priorities shift, and relationships slip, stumble, or fall while new ones are formed.

The people who are unable or unwilling to recognize who you’ve become and who you’re becoming are the very same people who stunt your growth. If your growth gets stunted, you tend to stand in the same old spot year after year.

I’m happy to be participating in this year’s Follow Fest, which is organized by Melissa Maygrove. The Follow Fest is a one-week event that serves as a networking tool to meet and learn about other writers outside our usual blogging circles.

I’m a freelance writer and communications consultant with expertise in writing marketing, technical, and corporate communications for various companies.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m married with two kids (a pre-teen and a full-blown, drive me bats teenager. They both are the joy of my life).

For the past several years I’ve been on a mind, body, and soul journey to live my truth and walk in my fullest potential. Because of this, I’ve become an inner-growth, self-development, self-empowered, spiritual junkie who gobbles up books by spiritual thought leaders like: Dr. Wayne Dyer, Iyanla Vanzant, Deepak Chopra, T.D. Jakes, Marianne Williamson (and many others).

I’m a Pepsi-holic, chocoholic, shower singer, work-out dabbler, Zumba dancer, and tv-sitcom freak. I love a good laugh, a good book, a good hair day, long walks alone, and the color blue (particular navy blue). Fresh air and silence are my two best friends.
