Considering it’s Thanksgiving season and a lot of gratitude is swirling around, it’s been whispered upon my heart to give a word of thanks to my blogging community. Particularly, the community of “commenters” who regularly grace me with their words and presence in their comments. Unfortunately, this won’t be an overall “thank you” note to the general masses. It’s time to name names and take prisoners.
I’ll start with the anchors of this blog, Starla Dougherty and Sharon Powell, who have kept this blog afloat and grounded me with their unwavering support since Day 1. Their consistent comments kept rolling in to give life and purpose here at a time when blog comments were hard to come by. Their steadfast commitment is so worthy of my utmost and sincere thanks. Even though a mere “thank you” doesn’t seem nearly enough for this magnificent duo.
To Ellen Buckingham, Roxanne Ravenel, and Susan Boswell, it warms my heart that you stop by to share your stories and insights on a regular basis. Your comments are greatly appreciated and I’m deeply grateful for the moments of time you carve out to spend here with me.
To the fairly newcomers, Julie Luek, M.L. Swift, and Melissa Kinnel, what a joy it is to see new faces. I love the powerful new energy you bring to the conversations. I am deeply grateful you guys continue to come back and leave pieces of yourselves through your fun and insightful words.
The community here humbles me. You guys inspire, uplift, and crack me up. And for that, it is my honor to say:

Charlene, thanks for stopping by. Your voice is always welcomed here. Happy Thanksgiving.
That was beautiful Demetria. Every blogger should do this. (Ahem, including yours truly!) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I too am so thankful for my readers and commenters. (THANK YOU!)
“It’s time to name names and take prisoners.”
I suffer from Stockholm Syndrome and have moved from prisoner status to enthusiastic follower!
It’s always a delight to read your posts (I’ve yet to get to the shorts…just too busy right now, and I want to relax in those and relish)…no thanks needed, but the thought shows what a wonderful, considerate person it is I’m following!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mike, I take all kinds of readers here, whether they’re enthusiastic followers or prisoners I hold at gunpoint. I don’t discriminate. Also there’s no pressure to read the shorts, the gun I have at your head has no bullets anyway. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. Don’t overeat.
Julie, I’m glad you find nuggets here. And as I’ve told you before: so glad our paths have crossed. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Oh heck, following and commenting is just pure selfish indulgence on my part. Thank YOU for writing such an engaging blog that I come back time-after-time to see what nuggets there are to nourish me. You’re very appreciated.
I’m so grateful that you happened by my blog one day and gave me the gift of your insightful, honest opinion and humor. It has been a real joy getting to know you. Thank you for including me in your circle. HUGS!
Roxanne, glad to be a part of your circle as well. You’ve been a good friend. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. HUGS right back at ya!
You are most welcome! Thank you for sharing your words of inspiration with us. It is my honor to support a true friend who has always been there for me. Remember I will be in the front row sitting right next to Starla, with big tears in our eyes:) LOL!!! I have always told you that your words are meant to be heard.
Sharon, ride or die, my sister. You have been a tremendous blessing in my life. Even though you are a little psychoKooKoo, that just makes you all the more wonderful. Happy Thanksgiving.
Truly a pleasure Demetria. You have a true talent and we are grateful that you have such a platform to share it with us.
Thanks, Starla. You are a rare treasure. So glad we hooked up as friends way back when, in our awkward early teen years of junior high school (middle school for all you southerners). You are wonderful.
What a nice thank you D- and THANK YOU for sharing the gift of your time, insight, centeredness and creativity with us on your blog.I truly believe the best gifts we can give in life is the gift of ourselves. It would be so much easier to sit back and watch Honey Boo Boo (not!) LOL! Thank you for your friendship and for being the first “Real Writer” I knew in person. You continue to inspire!!! Hope your Thanksgiving was good!
Susan, thank you for your kind words. I appreciate you tremendously for your friendship, support, and creative voice. You’re very good at giving the gift of yourself (wayyyy better at it than I am), and I agree it’s the best gift one can give. Happy belated Thanksgiving.
I really should be thanking you because you somehow found me and my blog and bestowed such gracious praise for my work. So thank YOU, Demetria, for uplifting ME. 🙂
Melissa, we uplift each other. Women empowering women is my motto. I’m truly thankful for your visits.
