She’s Baaack!

That’s right I’m back, well-rested and ready for 2012—well sort of.

I guess the only 100% true statement in that sentence is “I’m back.” After an almost four-week hiatus, I’m returning to the blogosphere.

During my hiatus, I also took a mini break from technology. I severely minimized my time on the computer, got backlogged on emails, abandoned social media, ignored my cell phone (which was easy since I rarely have it on anyways), and snubbed my nose at tweets and tweeters (also easy, since I’m not a tweeter, yet).

It was a beautiful thing. All was well and right with the world until December 25th when it all went up in flames—Kindle Fire flames!

So much for my technology break because for Christmas I received my very own Kindle Fire eReader. Oh my. And of course, like any kid with a new toy, I’ve been on that thing like white on rice. Like bread and butter. Like beans and farts. My Kindle Fire allows me to listen to music, surf the web, read thousands of books, and heaven forbid…watch movies. Good lord, this is not good.

Of course those who know me know I love to read, so its sole purpose is for reading. Yet my first love will always be the printed, hardcover experience of holding an actual book in my hands. No eReader can replace that. The only difference now is I have more reading options. Thank you, Jerome.

But, not me. Oh sure, sure, I make yearly goals (even weekly and daily ones), but I’m not gonna shout them from the rooftop because I tend to keep them to myself.

But what I will do is announce that change is on the horizon. In the coming months you’ll see subtle and not so subtle changes to this website and blog. Simply because it’s time for change (and it’s one of my 2012 goals). It’s been almost a year since I launched this site (more on that later this week), so it’s time to shake things up a bit.

With that said, I’d like to welcome you back, readers. I’m glad you stuck around.

It’s a new year, a new day, a new dawn—go shake things up!

  1. I agree. I still like the feel of a book in my hands. I’m more of a tangible person. I like to print out documents off the computer too. I don’t like reading them on screen as much.

  2. Happy New Year, Ellen! I feel you on that tangible thing. While the world is going “paperless” I still yearn for my hard copies. Thanks for your comments (LLF).

By the way, the woman in that photo sort of looks like a silhouette of you. I’m just sayin’.

  3. Ha ha. You haven’t seen my silhouette lately. I only wish I looked like the girl in the photo.

  4. Happy New Year!!! Welcome Back! Just like you I received an eReader device. Let me just say I have been “NOOKED” LOL!!!! And I love it!! But I also like the feel of a good book. But since I am getting older, my eReader is better because you can make the words BIGGER!
Well Demetria, I can not wait to see how you shake things up. Because I plan on shaking things up in my life too:)

  5. Happy New Year Demetria and I can’t wait to hear what you have coming for us! I am glad you are enjoying your new toy, but also glad that you haven’t given up on the hard(backed) stuff…LOL

  6. Sharon,I know you’ve been NOOKED! We can be eReader buddies together. Even though both of us are so “old school.” And that’s hilarious that you make the words BIGGER. I can totally relate. Also, Happy New Year to you, too. Although we’ve already covered that during our discussion on your birthday. Glad to know you’re going to shake stuff up!

  7. Welcome to 2012!! Glad your back and shaking things up, girl!! I too prefer the feel of a physical book; however, I love my IPad for travelling. I only have 1 book downloaded, and like you and Shay, gotta increase that font size….Hello!!
Looking forward to shaking it up with ya, but first I gotta shake this cold. Yes…I got worse the day after we spoke. WTH….I don’t get colds!!
