Reach and Teach

Thanks to my friend and fellow writer, Roxanne Ravenel, I’m a big fan of Marie Forleo. Marie shares insightful information for women in business and self-empowerment.

One of the things I’ve realized about myself back when I was becoming increasingly dissatisfied with my career (at that time), and the lack of luster in my life was I needed self-empowerment. The quest for it, took me on a journey of spiritual growth and the need to reposition my life and career. So I did.

One of the things I enjoy seeing is women empowering women (the real stuff, not the phony kind). I’ve learned we have to root for each other and be our own allies. I haven’t always been that way. I was more of an “every woman for herself” type. But this women’s empowerment thing is awesome. I love it. And I love this phase of my life where I’m transforming into a better version of myself—right before my own eyes. (That’s right, I’m growing up.)

Anyhoo, my purpose for this video is to do my part to create awareness and spread the word—to reach and teach. Find out “Three Ways You Can Change the World Right Now,” from Marie Forleo.

Being Unrecognizable is a Good Thing

In life as you mature, change, grow, and evolve you become unrecognizable to some of
the people around you. They no longer see in you who you used to be and they become somewhat uncomfortable with—and even seem to dislike—this newly improved version
of you.

It’s natural for the people who know you to be leery and skeptical of your growth, and to find the “new you” hard to accept. Hard to believe. Hard to swallow. And rightly so, because what once was, no longer is. And we all are creatures of habit—we want things to stay the same. But change is inevitable and there’s always a price to pay during your transformation. Relationships shift, stumble, or fall off—and new ones form. Such is life.

Thankfully, I have two mainstay friends who will always recognize me even when I’m unrecognizable. Even when it gets uncomfortable for them and our paths go in different directions. They are the ones whose support I will always cherish. They are the ones who start with you and will finish with you (you know who you are).
